These landscapes seek to show the interplay between sun and fog, and the amazing changeability of the weather I have experienced on my holidays in Nova Scotia. 

I love painting flowers from life indoors in the wintertime when it is too cold to sketch and paint outdoors. Flowers cheer me up so much on a winter day!

I was inspired by the stark shapes of trees against snow in wintertime, and the feeling of unseen animal life hiding and hibernating. Some of the marks express running and jumping in sleeping animals’ dreams. 

These summer scenes are an abstract expression of sunshine and wind around a cottage lake. I chose to weave the shape of a canoe throughout, expressing the feeling of gliding through the landscape on a canoe trip.

I love painting onsite around my home in Ottawa-Gatineau. Plein air pieces can sometimes convey a wonderful sense of immediacy.
